Korten has over thirty-five years of experience in preeminent business, academic, and international development institutions as well as in contemporary citizen action organizations. He earned MBA and Ph.D. degrees from Stanford University's Graduate School of Business, served as a faculty member at the Harvard University Graduate School of Business, and conducted research at the Harvard Institute for International Development. He served as a Ford Foundation project specialist in Manila and as Asia Regional Advisor on Developmental Management to the US Agency for International Development.
